It has become increasingly important for affiliates to have a bridge page where they put a product review and/or showcase their exclusive bonuses.
Frankly, because every other affiliate you are competing against are doing this, if you don't your sales will be mediocre at best.
The issue I always faced was that I could no longer use a tracking ID. I always put a TID onto my affiliate links to see where the sales come from (even to a granular level like "toplink" and "bottomlink" in individual emails).
The traffic was all now going to a bridge page so the tracking was impossible.
